Geological Hazard

We integrate a high-definition IMU system into the cleaning pig, and through multiple, repeated inspections, calculate the displacement of the centerline and the bending strain in local areas of the pipeline. This effectively detects geological hazards, landslides, and other natural phenomena that may cause damage to the pipeline. We already have a mature equipment manufacturing and software analysis system. The equipment size ranges from 4 inches to 48 inches. This technology has been widely applied in the southwestern and northwestern mountainous regions of China.

  • Detection of pipeline bending strain based on IMU to obtain pipeline bending strain data.
  • Comparison of multiple/high-frequency inspection results to identify/monitor pipeline displacement.

Pipeline bending deformation discovered by bending strain analysis
Based on the IMU data, the bending strain segment is located within the XXX tunnel. As shown in the satellite map, accompanied by relevant personnel from the owner side, a site survey was conducted. Approximately 310 meters downstream from the tunnel entrance, pipeline bending deformation was discovered, with a length of about 60 meters. The bending direction is both vertical and horizontal.

Landslide discovered at Southwest of China
Through data analysis, a total of 9 locations with bending strain exceeding 0.125% were identified and reported in the pipeline. Among them, 5 locations had vertical bending strain, and 4 locations had both horizontal and vertical bending strain. The maximum bending strain recorded was 0.2%.
